You can always update your passport number. “Changes in any documents that you used to establish your Global Entry account, such as your passport can be updated online in your Global Online Enrollment System, or GOES, account.”

You can’t technically get it for free but often times they do. They also have “some form of expedited screening through risk-based intelligence” see this TSA link
